2017 ADL awards presented

Wrestling Pei presented their annual ADL awards to recognize our top wrestlers of 2017. Our award winners and their 2017 season summary is below from Left to Right.

Nik Cummins, Coach of the year
Nik had a fantastic year coaching. His many hours of dedication paid off for his wrestlers.  Nik’s athletes were able to put up some personal bests at Nationals and then follow that up with 3 medal matches ending with 3 fourth place finishes at the Canada Games. There is a very good chance the games team would of gone 4 for 4 with regards to reaching medal matches if not for an injury withdraw in an early seeding match. Pretty impressive for a province the size of Pei.

Karlyn Shea, High Performance Female Athlete of the Year

Karlyn Shea had a strong year in 2016-17. With 3 Gold and a Silver in tournaments attended in the Atlantic Provinces Karlyn was making her mark locally and preparing herself for her first run at the Nationals and Canada Games. Karlyn was impressive at Nationals finishing with 3W and 2L in a pool of 24 wrestlers in the highly competitive 60kg weight division. Karlyn built on that strong performance and finished with a 5th place finish at the Games with a 3-3 record. Congratulations to Karlyn Shea.
