Charlottetown’s Trevor Banks, competing for Concordia, and Summerside’s Ligrit Sadiku of Western, won bronze medals this weekend at the CIS wrestling championships, hosted by Brock University.
Sadiku, ranked fourth, capped a fine first season by defeating Alberta’s Melvin Arciaga in the 57kg division. Sadiku was also recognized by winning the CIS rookie of the year honour.
Banks, who is in his senior year, won his third CIS career medal by defeating Richard Cox of Saskatchewan at 54kg in the bronze medal bout. During his CIS career, Banks has won Gold and Bronze as part of the Concordia Stingers wrestling team. Individually, he has won a silver and bronze.
