Age classifications for PEISAA Wrestling are as follows:

Novice            Grade 5/6 students                 Bantam           Grade 7/8 students

Intermediate              Grade 9/10 students               Senior             Grade 11/12 students

Novice (male/female):          26, 28, 30, 32.5, 35, 37.5, 40, 43, 46, 50, 56.5, 63.5, 72.5, 82

Bantam (male/female):         35, 38, 41, 44, 47, 50, 53, 56, 60, 65, 70, 76, 83, 95 kg

Intermediate (male):             42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 63, 66, 69, 72, 76, 80, 85, 92, 100, 115, 130 kg

Intermediate (female):          38, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70, 75, 82 kg

Senior (male):                        46-50, 55, 60, 66, 74, 84, 96, 120 kg

Senior (female):                    40-44, 48, 51, 55, 59, 63, 67, 72, 82 kg

  • Novice & Bantam: Top 3 athletes / weight class qualifying at zone competition move on to PEISAA Championships. Grade 3 & 4 (pre-novice) wrestlers are not eligible to compete at the PEISAA Provincial Championships.
  • Intermediate: Top 4 athletes / weight class qualifying at zone competition move on to PEISAA Provincial Championships.
  •  All Senior wrestlers qualify to PEISAA Provincial Championships.

Team Points

1st – 5 points; 2nd – 3 points; 3rd – 1 point towards the Provincial Team Championship in each age / gender classification.

If there is only one athlete qualified in a weight class for the PEISAA Championships, the athlete will receive a gold medal, but no team points are awarded.  The athlete is not required to attend the competition.  They will be informed by the drawmaster prior to competition.

If there are two or more athletes who are qualified in a weight class and an athlete comes to the PEISAA Championships prepared to compete and, due to one or more no shows, is not required to wrestle, the athlete will receive a medal and full team points.

Important:  Please submit results from zone qualifiers to Megan Morrison NO LATER than Friday, April 13th 2018. 

Please notify commissioner / drawmaster of any qualified wrestlers who are NOT attending provincials so they can be removed from the draw no later than noon on Thursday, April 19th 2018.

End of Match

A match ends by pin, most accumulated points at end of regulation time or a 10 point superiority (i.e. 10-0, 11-1)

Match Duration

Novice / Bantam / Intermediate:      2 x 2-minute rounds, 30 second break

Senior:                                    2 x 3-minute rounds, 30 second break

*Scores are cumulative i.e. if it is 6-2 after round 1, round 2 starts at 6-2.

Other information

☞    Please remind your wrestlers to stay in the competition area. The rest of the school is off limits to those participating in the wrestling tournament.

☞    Wrestlers, officials and coaches must wear clean indoor sneakers or wrestling boots (laces taped for wrestlers) and need to change footwear before entering the gym. No bare feet. Locker rooms provided.  Wrestlers should be dressed appropriately — wrestling singlet, spandex top/shorts or shorts and t-shirt (no pockets, zippers, velcro, embellishments), hair tied back, hair elastics w/ no metal, short, clean fingernails, no contagious skin infections such as ringworm or impetigo, no jewelry.

☞    Spectators will watch from the bleachers. No spectators on gym floor or wrestling mats.  Please share with information with the parents of your wrestlers.

☞    Canteen will be available.  All food and drink are to be consumed in designated area.

☞         Medical / First aid will be on site, provided by Sports Centre Physiotherapy

No Food or Drink in the GYMNASIUM (except water) FOR ALL SPECTATORS AND COMPETITORS. THIS INCLUDES COFFEE.
