Five Islanders won gold medals at the Canada East Wrestling Festival during the weekend in Saint–Césaire, Que.
Three were from Charlottetown’s Island Wrestling Academy (IWA) and two were from the Montague-based Red Rock Wrestling Club.
Sisters Vanessa and Victoria Keefe as well as Nolan O’Rourke from IWA claimed top place in their weight categories. Vanessa competed in kid’s girls division while O’Rourke and Victoria were in the bantam division.
Beatrice Galaise took home a silver medal in the kid’s girls division while Adam MacKenzie earned a sixth place in boy’s bantam.
Allie Colling in kid’s girls and Hailey Ferguson in girls’ bantam won gold medals for the Red Rock club.
Colbie White took home a boy’s silver in novice while Alexander Mallard had a sixth-place showing in boys’ bantam.
More than 330 wrestlers participated in the competition.
